Great is the might of the Sea…
The Evagoras and Kathleen Lanitis Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Limassol Municipality, presents the Third International Sea Festival “Nautilus” under the auspices of The Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU. The festival focuses its interest and sheds ample light on the relations of the island with European and other maritime powers of Antiquity and the Middle Ages, and the influence of the sea on literature and the arts. For almost five consecutive months, the Evagoras and Kathleen Lanitis Foundation will not only transport the sea and its mesmerising world at the heart of the city of Limassol, but of the island as a whole. Therefore, the International Sea Festival “Nautilus” 2012 is a unique initiative that focuses on events inspired by the marine world. From fine art to photography, music and cinema, a host of activities and events will take place at the Evagoras Lanitis Centre and in various public spaces of the city for a period of almost five months, promoting the major role of Cyprus as a bridge between history and modern naval reality. Walking the streets of Limassol, both inhabitants and visitors will discover the rhythms of a city adapted to the refreshing environment of the sea.
